A fire destroyed a large barn in rural Waterloo yesterday afternoon. The fire began in the 8700 block of Kimball Avenue south of West Schrock Road. A neighbor reported seeing a burn pile outside of the building before the fire began. Firefighters were called in around 2:15PM. The fire reportedly burned some siding from a nearby home, as well patches of grass across the road. The barn had been used for storage, and the cause is believed to be accidental. Hudson and Gilbertville firefighters worked to put out the fire.
