A member of Hudson Volunteer Fire & Rescue died Tuesday night in a motorcycle crash. In a Facebook post, the department said that 26-year-old Riley Gilbert died as a result of the accident. According to Waterloo Police, the crash happened just before 10:00 PM on the roundabout at Fletcher Avenue and University Avenue. He had apparently lost control of his motorcycle on the curb near the roundabout. The pavement was wet and slippery, due to the recent rain. The motorcycle spun out and Gilbert was thrown from the bike. By the time paramedics arrived, he was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
