Lt Gov Gregg Speaks On Iowa Tax Cut Bill

Gov Reynolds Signs Bill into Law For Flat 3.8% Tax

Yesterday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law the new accelerated tax cut bill passed by legislators in the recently completed session.  Starting next year, Iowans’ tax rate will be at a flat 3.8%, down from between 4.4% and 5.7% this year.   Speaking to the Cedar Falls Rotary this week, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg shared some of the successes of this years’ session and led off with the history of getting the tax rate changed.

Gregg says the plan was in place for a fast track state income tax cut.

Gregg says when he and Governor Reynolds took office in May 2017, Iowa had the 6th highest tax rates in the country.

With this move, it’ll save Iowa taxpayers a billion dollars over the next two years.
