Spooner Found Guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter

A former Denver man was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in a fire that occurred nearly 2 years ago in Waterloo. 61-year old John Spooner was initially charged with first degree murder in the death of Tony Grider, who was the owner of the home on W. 2nd St. On the charge, he faces five years in prison. Sentencing will be held at a later date. He was previously convicted of first degree arson in connection with the 2022 fire.
