“No Mow May” in Cedar Falls

The Cedar Falls City Council will not be enforcing the city’s maximum 8-inch weed and grass height ordinance this month in what’s being called “No Mow May.” According to the city, the goal of “No Mow May” is to provide bees, butterflies, and other pollinators with spring foraging opportunities. The city notes that the initiative is voluntary, meaning homeowners can mow their lawns if they wish to do so. If homeowners decide not to mow during the month of May, they must still ensure their lawns are in within city code by June 1st. Grass will continue to be cut near roads and trails as a safety precaution.
