At least 29 citations have been issued by Cedar Falls Police for violating the city’s Fireworks ordinance as of midnight Monday night. 18 citations were issued on July 3rd and 11 were issued on Monday. Officials say the citations were for shooting off fireworks on city streets and sidewalks, on Cedar Falls School property and for using them after the 11:00PM deadline. A reminder that fireworks can be used today only to close out the ordinance, from noon until 10:00PM. First offense violations carry a fine of $375, plus $95 court costs, for a total of $470.
