Arrest Made in Early AM Waterloo Shooting

A victim who suffered non-life-threatening injuries has been identified and an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in Waterloo early Monday morning. Waterloo Police say 38-year-old Roy Stewart was taken into custody after being treated for a hand injury sustained from an altercation during the incident. The incident occurred around 5:10AM in the 200 block of Western Avenue. Police also identified Ashley Cronan as the victim, who was suffering a gunshot wound to the leg at the scene. Cronan was taken to Unity Point-Allen Hospital for treatment. After witnesses were interviewed, Waterloo Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald says that it was confirmed Stewart was shot after a struggle with bystanders.
