Area Veterans on Honor Flight Return To Welcome Home

Another group of veterans returned from Washington DC, for the 29th Cedar Valley Honor Flight Tuesday night.  92 northeast Iowa veterans, their guardians and medical personnel were in our Nation’s Capital, to see several memorials, including the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. 87 were Vietnam Veterans, 5 were from the Korean Conflict.  They were given a welcome home ceremony upon returning from the Waterloo Airport, complete with music from the Cedar Valley Big Band, and crowds of family members and supporters.

Tony Peters of Waterloo served in the Navy in the late 1970’s to 1980. Peters said he had a great time on the trip to Washington.

Like many who’ve attended the Honor Flights, Peters says one of the major highlights of the trip for him was the Changing of The Guard.
