Beck Formally Sworn In as Waterloo Fire Chief

Waterloo Fire Rescue’s new Fire Chief was formally installed Tuesday afternoon.  Battalion Chief William Beck was formally sworn in by Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart. Beck has been with Waterloo Fire Rescue since 2004 and rose through the ranks, and multiple positions to his new position as Fire Chief.  After the swearing-in ceremony, Beck says he’s pleased but still very much in awe.

Beck says retired Chief Pat Treloar, who retired in December, left the department in great hands, but he says he’s looking forward to what’s ahead for Waterloo Fire Rescue.

Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart praised Beck and his accomplishments so far.

In addition, Mayor Hart administered the oath of office to new 4th Ward Councilwoman Belinda Creighton-Smith.  She won a special election last Tuesday to fill the seat left vacant by Iowa Representative Jerome Amos earlier this year.   Creighton-Smith says she’s very excited to help make a difference for the city.
