Veteran’s Day Activities in Cedar Valley

A host of activities will be taking place in the area Friday in observance of Veterans Day.  In Waterloo, an event will be held inside the Veterans Memorial Hall at 1915 Courbat Court, followed by a traditional rifle salute outside at Soldiers and Sailors Park.  The salute will commemorate the armistice of World War I.

An event will also be held at Cedar Falls High School gymnasium at 10:30AM. Cedar Falls High School History teacher Kevin Stewart is again organizing that event.

AMVETS Post 49 will host its Veterans Day event Friday night at 6:00PM. Post commander Ron Kirkland and several other members will speak during the ceremony.  All events are open to the public.

Most banks and government offices will be closed on Friday in observance of Veterans Day.  The Waterloo Public Library will also be closed on Friday. Normal hours will resume on Saturday.
