2022 Primary Election Results

Tuesday’s primary elections are now behind us and U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley cruised to an easy victory over State Senator Jim Carlin for the Republican nomination for Senator, and a chance to earn his eighth term this fall.  Grassley will face retired Navy Admiral Michael Franken in November. Franken defeated challengers former congresswoman Abby Finkenauer and physician Glenn Hurst.  In House District 76, Republican Derek Wulf easily topped Tony Chavez for the right to face Democrat Kate Wyatt of Hudson in November. In the local race for the Democratic candidate for the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors,  Tavis Hall and Glen Keith won as the top two vote-getters. Current board chair Craig White came in third.  Voter turnout in Black Hawk County was 21% Democrat, 22% Republican, and overall, nearly 13.5% countywide, according to the Black Hawk County Elections Office.
