Cedar Falls Police are crediting the heroic actions of several neighbors who helped first responders with a water rescue overnight. Someone called to report a vehicle had driven into a pond near their home in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive around 12:30 Wednesday morning. Neighbors and Public Safety officers were able to get to the submerged vehicle using a small boat. A 58-year old man was rescued and taken to an area hospital. He was the lone person in the vehicle. Officials have not said what may have caused the man to drive into the pond. The investigation is continuing.
