Waterloo Council to Vote on Housing Grant Applications
Tonight, the Waterloo City Council will decide which of three housing developments will be tabbed for federal grant money. Only two of the three developments will be selected by the council to vie for the funding of up to $3 million each through the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Last week, Waterloo Community Development Board members recommended applications for the Prairie Rapids Square development, off of East Ridgeway Avenue and the Greenhill Townhomes development, located near the UnityPoint Clinic, by Greenhill and South Hackett Roads. One other development application is for the Grand Crossing Condominiums project in downtown Waterloo, on the former Grand Hotel property. Whichever of the three are selected will then be forwarded to the I-E-D-A to compete for the federal money with other applications from around the state. Council meeting is tonight at 5:30 in Waterloo City Hall.
